Whiting Petroleum (WLL) released an update on the company’s operations in Colorado where it is developing the Niobrara formation on its properties. The company has 105,597 gross or 73,611 net acres prospective for this play in the Denver Julesburg Basin.
Whiting Petroleum is currently working on the Redtail prospect in Weld County, Colorado, and reported the completion of the Horsetail 18-0733H well. The Horsetail 18-0733H well had an initial production rate of 718 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day, using a lateral of 6,296 feet. This well was located approximately 12 miles from the Wildhorse discovery well.
Whiting Petroleum plans to operate one rig and drill 12 wells at the Redtail Niobrara prospect in 2012.
