Whiting Petroleum Updates Operations At Redtail Niobrara Prospect

Whiting Petroleum (WLL) released an update on the company’s operations in Colorado where it is developing the Niobrara formation on its properties.  The company has 105,597 gross or 73,611 net acres prospective for this play in the Denver Julesburg Basin.

Whiting Petroleum is currently working on the Redtail prospect in Weld County, Colorado, and reported the completion of the Horsetail 18-0733H well.  The Horsetail 18-0733H well had an initial production rate of 718 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day, using a lateral of 6,296 feet.  This well was located approximately 12 miles from the Wildhorse discovery well.

Whiting Petroleum plans to operate one rig and drill 12 wells at the Redtail Niobrara prospect in 2012.

Continental Resources Updates Niobrara Activity For Fourth Quarter Of 2011

Continental Resources (CLR) reported an update on its Niobrara operations during the fourth quarter of 2011. The company has four wells in various stages of completion.

The Staudinger 1-31H is the most recent well and is currently producing 461 barrels of oil equivalent (BOE) per day, including 431 barrels of oil.

Continental Resources said that the Marconi 1-1H well is currently producing 150 barrels of oil per day and the Perrin 1-10H and Hahn 1-4H Niobrara wells were put on artificial lift. The company plans to report initial production results on these wells later in 2012.

Continental Resources plans to operate one rig in the Niobrara in 2012, drilling on both 640 and 1,280 acre spacing.

Continental Resources Working On Niobrara Test Wells

Continental Resources (CLR) reported on the company’s latest activity in the Niobrara Shale in Weld County, Colorado.

Continental Resources is currently completing the Marconi 1-1H, Perrin 1-10H and the Hahn 1-4H wells, the company’s second, third and fourth test wells into the Niobrara in the Denver Julesburg Basin.  The company is pumping and recovering load water after hydraulic fracturing operations have been completed.

Continental Resources did not have production information available but said that two of the wells were producing oil and natural gas during recovery of the load water and the oil cuts were “encouraging.”
