EOG Resources (EOG) has 400,000 net acres that is prospective for the Niobrara Shale in Colorado and Wyoming, and started leasing acreage here in 2008. The company drilled the Jake 2-01H well in late 2009, and reported production here of 50,000 barrels of oil in the first 90 days.
EOG Resources has identified “sweet spots” in the play, including the Silo Field, and has drilled 4 additional horizontal Niobrara Shale wells since then:
Elmer 8-31H - 730 barrels of oil per day
Red Poll 10-16H - 1,100 barrels of oil per day
Critter Creek 2-03H - Waiting on Completion
Critter Creek 4-09H - Waiting on Completion
EOG Resources plans to run 2 rigs in the Niobrara Shale in 2010, and has estimated completed well costs at $3.4 million.
