The Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investment released the results of an auction of mineral leases held on November 3, 2010. The leases are in areas that are prospective for the Niobrara Shale formation.
The Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investment offered 200 parcels and raised $48.8 million in wining bids. Many public companies participated in this Niobrara Shale auction including QEP Resources (QEP), Marathon Oil (MRO), Apache Corporation (APA) and Double Eagle Petroleum (DBLE). The winning bids ranged from $1 to $4,725 per acre. The full results are located here.
